NDSLS Presents: The Golden Gavel

WHAT IS THE GOLDEN GAVEL?

An annual competition showcasing two students from each participating university. Students are to present a 5 minute speech that reflects a stand up comedy genre and will be judged based on humour, cleverness, originality and performance.

Competing against students from other Universities, the winner will go onto the present their speech at the Annual Golden Gavel in June (reserved for those practicing as solicitors)

This year’s gavel will be held in person & spectators are also welcome (please note that capacity restrictions may apply).

We are excited to announce the commencement of the STRIPES Pride Month Creative Competition 2022!

Entries are now open for the STRIPES Notre Dame Sydney Pride Month 2022 Creative Competition. Pride Month is dedicated to uplifting the queer community and celebrate LGBTQI+ culture. We want to hear what Pride Month means to YOU.

Open to all Notre Dame students. 

Deadline: Sunday 26 June 2022, 11:59pm AEST

Prizes: 1st place - $80, 2nd place - $50, 3rd place - $20

“What does Pride Month mean to you?” 

You can tackle this question through many different expressive forms. Here are a list of creative forms you could use: 

  • Short Story

  • Poem

  • Journal Entry

  • Painting

  • Photograph 

  • Music

  • Video

  • Crochet 

  • Other forms of original art, including sculptures and models

Be creative. Your creative medium does not need to be from the list above. Still not sure? Please reach out to STRIPES at ndqueer@gmail.com

Submitting a non-literary medium?

If your creative submission is not a literary medium, please also submit a 200 word overview of what your creative work means to you. This applies to photography, original art, music, video, crochet and other submissions.

To enter, complete our Google Form (you will need to sign into Google to submit this form).

Winners will be announced in the last week of Pride Month 2022.
