President’s Welcome

SAUNDA President, Gabriela Mirjanoska welcomes all new, current & prospective students to the heart of campus life.

Hi everyone!

My name is Gabriela and I am the President for the Student Association of the University of Notre Dame Australia (SAUNDA) in 2023. I am currently in my fourth year studying a Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in Finance. I served as Business Representative on SAUNDA in 2023 for four months before taking on the role of President.

SAUNDA’s mission is to provide opportunities and be the voice for all students attending both our Sydney campuses located in Broadway and Darlinghurst. We host social and professional development events throughout the year and affiliate clubs and societies to enhance the university experience for the students.

Our main objective is to voice student ideas, concerns, and queries to the University as we are a team who actively believes that every student is unique and not simply a number. We believe that’s why Notre Dame is so special! Students are encouraged to be proactive with their social engagement, helping us to improve the university experience.

SAUNDA not only runs social events, our committee also works closely with the University as an educational institution to create new initiatives and opportunities for students to be involved in to improve their skills and employability. Additionally, we work with our on-campus clubs and societies to provide an all-round university experience for our students.

2023 will be a big year for SAUNDA and I am honoured to be your President. My goal for the next year is to ensure all students enjoy their time at Notre Dame and are able to grow and develop lifelong networks and friendships.

With that, my biggest advice for students is to get the most value out of your time at university. Step out of your comfort zone and make 2023 the year you make your mark on the university. Students are able to sign up for a club, start a club, volunteer at Notre Dame events, participate in lunch time sports, become a mentor or create a new initiative, so there is really an opportunity for everyone to get involved and make some new friends!

Feel free to contact myself on president.saunda@nd.edu.au or pop in for a chat at our office located at NDS3 Prentice House on the Broadway Campus!

The University of Notre Dame Australia is proud to acknowledge the traditional owners and custodians of this land upon which our University sits. The University acknowledges that the Fremantle Campus is located on Wadjuk Country, the Broome Campus on Yawuru Country and the Sydney Campus on Cadigal Country.

Notre Dame,
Mother of Jesus and our Mother,
We ask you to guide our University.

Mary, as you cared for Jesus,
Show a loving care for us,
As we expand our minds in study and research,
As we open our hearts to future possibilities,
And extend our hands to those who are in need.

Mary, Seat of Wisdom, Teach
us to care for the land and the people
Of this country of the Southern Cross.

In this academic community dedicated to you,
Help us find new yet faithful ways
Of bringing the message of Jesus to Australia
And to those who share this region of the earth with us.

Amen
